Roman Mainz Gladius

A meticulous reproduction Mainz Gladius, forged from 1060 steel and fitted with hand-carved hardwood grip and pommel. When sheathed, the Gladius rests in a leather scabbard with detailed brass appointments throughout.

All of our European swords are hand-forged (not stamped or CNC'ed) by the same craftsmen that make our Japanese arms. The fullers are carved and burnished by hand for crisp and accurate lines. Forging allows our smiths to control the cross-sectional geometry to provide the proper stiffness of a cut and thrust blade. European production weaponry gets the craftsmanship it deserves.
